In my family we have the same routine every Christmas Day. We all wake up in the morning and go downstairs to open presents. Everyone opens their presents which they have received from each family member. Of course the children get presents from Santa as well.
We eat a special christmas day breakfast which consists of scrambled egg and smoked salmon. The grown ups drink sparkling wine or champagne as a special Christmas breakfast treat!
After breakfast, the real fun begins. We all drive to the beach and gather with thousands of other people to go for a Christmas day swim. Everyone runs into the freezing cold water (many wearing Christmas hats) and quickly get out. This tradition gained popularity in the UK about 25 years ago. It started with just a handful of people at a few beaches, but it has now grown into thousands of people gathering at beaches throughout the country.
After this fun and freezing event, our family walk to a local pub, preferably with a fireplace, where we have a drink and meet other people from the town to wish them a merry christmas. After this we return home to have a hot shower and prepare for Christmas lunch.
Christmas lunch is my favourite part of the day. Roast Turkey, pigs in blankets (sausages wrapped in bacon), stuffing and vegetables. For dessert we eat christmas pudding or chocolate cake. Before we eat everyone pulls the Christmas cracker. Inside the cracker is a toy, a christmas hat and a very bad joke! Everyone reads out the joke and wears the Christmas hat.
After lunch it is time for the whole family to play a board game followed by a Christmas movie. By this point everyone is stuffed and exhausted so most people end up falling asleep on the sofa.
I love Christmas time. It is my favourite part of the year!

我が家では毎年クリスマスの日に決まった習慣があります。朝起きて皆で階下に降り、プレゼントを開けます。家族全員がお互いに贈ったプレゼントを開けるのです。もちろん子供たちはサンタさんからのプレゼントも受け取ります。
クリスマス当日の朝食は特別で、スクランブルエッグとスモークサーモンが並びます。大人たちは特別なクリスマスの朝食として、スパークリングワインやシャンパンを楽しみます！
朝食後、本当のお楽しみが始まります。皆で車でビーチに向かい、何千人もの人々と集まってクリスマスの日の海水浴に出かけます。凍えるような冷たい海へ皆で駆け込み（多くはクリスマスハットをかぶっています）、すぐに上がります。この伝統は約25年前に英国で人気を博しました。当初は数人のみでいくつかのビーチでのみ行われていましたが、今では全国の数千人の人々がビーチに集まる規模に成長しています。
この楽しくて凍えるようなイベントの後、家族で地元のパブへ歩きます。できれば暖炉のある店で、飲み物を楽しみながら町の他の人々と出会い、クリスマスを祝います。その後、家に帰って熱いシャワーを浴び、クリスマスランチの準備をします。
クリスマスランチはこの日の最高の時間です。ローストターキー、ピッグ・イン・ブランケット（ベーコン巻きソーセージ）、スタッフィング、野菜が並びます。デザートにはクリスマスプディングかチョコレートケーキを食べます。食事の前に、全員がクリスマスクラッカーを引っ張ります。クラッカーの中にはおもちゃ、クリスマスハット、そしてひどいジョークが入っています！皆でジョークを読み上げ、クリスマスハットをかぶるのです。
昼食後は家族みんなでボードゲームをして、その後クリスマス映画を観る時間です。この頃は皆お腹いっぱいでお疲れなので、大抵の人はソファで寝入ってしまうのです。
私はクリスマスが大好きです。一年で一番好きな時期です！
